If soap and water isn’t available, hand sanitizer with an alcohol level of 60% will work just fine.

Food Packaging and Disinfecting Food

Handling food packing is very important as this virus can linger and contaminate any surface it comes in contact with. It’s very possible for that people can be infected by the virus after touching package surfaces and then touching their faces or mouths afterwards. It’s important to be safe in your home and cleaning and disinfecting any products that enter the household. When handling any food packaging make sure to wipe down any packaging before being used. It’s unclear how many people or who touched this product before you, so a good wipe disinfectant wipe down of all products is very proactive. Wash unpackaged produce like fruits and vegetables and remove any unnecessary packaging on products. Once handling products and packaging make sure to wash your hands with soap afterwards before going on with your day.

Studies have shown that this virus can survive and travel onto fabric, so it’s very important to clean your clothes as often as possible. Extra caution during these times is very vital and good practices and routines can make all the difference from stopping this virus from entering your household. When you come home make sure to take your shoes off before entering the house and changing into a clean set of clothes immediately. After being outdoors and coming in contact with other people it’s important to throw those clothes in the laundry and get them clean with warm water and detergent as soon as possible.
